Lt77 short gear linkage

Post by Ianrhall »

I need to move the gear lever forward on my lt77, currently have a stock lt77 from a vitesse. Not exactly sure how much it will need moving but likely to be 3 inches of so
Could the existing one be shortened?
Otherwise what car/van will I need to get one from?
Thanks
Ian

You can shorten a standard lever housing as that's what I had on my MGB. Need someone who can weld cast alu tho .....

Not sure on other linkages. I have a sherpa one in the garage somewhere but have no idea where!
RIP MGB V8 .... served me well as a learning curve.

How much do you think I could shorten it? I can get the welding done so no probs there
The pics I've seen of the sherpa one show the lever a lot further forward, maybe one extreme to another!!

Shorten it as much as you need to, the housings are quite long as far as I recall. 3" isn't that much. What's it going in?

I seem to recollect that the lever housing from a V8 Sherpa van was the shortest you could get, possibly the one in the image above.

Got a linkage from a sherpa, not a v8 one tho. Looks like it will work as a mock up-it is very worn, gearstick is soooo long!!
