only just seen this thread, (took as look due to PM).

heres a pic of my engine/box.

it probly aint the easyest way to do it, as i have had to custom make some kind of bracket or adaptor for everything.

but i went down this route as it uses rover bits, which are easy to source an look at home in a metro. its also a pretty compact way of doing it.

what i really did was make up adaptors to make the V8 fit all the K series bits.

heres engine/box in car, this is a few months back now, stuff has come along a bit since.

this is a way of doing it for sure, but weather its the best way or easyest way is another mater, mounting it on a renalt transaxle would give better weight distribution, and parts will be more ready available to do.

best thing is get a V8, an strip out the back of your metro, an see what you think.

mid engine/RWD is definatly more work than front, just getting suitable suspension/brakes on the rear to cope with taking an engine takes a while.

but what il get at the end of it will be more useable in the way of traction etc.

people have made fwd V8 mini's so im sure it would work in the front of a metro, but that not what i have been tryign to achive.

If there is enough room, why not mount the engine and gearbox longitudinally, giving a mid engine and better weight distribution? You could use a common audi or vw passat box which are common, or a renault un1 if you can find or afford one!
