Would a Chev Manifold fit a RV8?
As per title
I have seen a Chev manifold with a set of 4 Webber IDF's that would be great for the GT40
Can that manifold fit a 3.9 RV8?
If not anyone got a Chevvy and want some Bling carbs?

Take a browse through my growing rover v8 manifold archive for some ideas:

This is what I saw

I accept there is a set up routine with these but certainly are a bit more period correct on a GT40 than EFi

I have seen RV8 webber set ups going for less than £600 recently, I would cost a fortune to set up 48s for a RV8, they are too big for general road use, even for a 5 litre it would be a bit big, and probably need 7k rev limit to get the best from them, I have 42mm Jenvies on my 3.9 Cortina which in reality are posibly a bit on the large size for TBs
Lack of air speed over bleed holes would give you no end of problems getting the engine to run at low speeds with 48s,and to get the air speed up, to run the carbs you probably need a tickover of 2k+ to get any sort of throttle response.

I have a set of 44IDF on a 4.6 engine.
They are working fine without the progression problems a lot of people encounter with the downdraughts.
The key is to have the right size carburettor (as always) with the right parts inside.
It took a bid of asking around and testing but as I said, mine are working.
I ended with: F7 emulsion tubes, 140 main, 180 air and 0.60 idle.
That will be different for any other engine.
The main point was the change to the F7 emulsion tubes that has given the better progression for my engine.
As a lot of people said to me, why not go EFI with throttle bodies?
It will take away all the mess with the jets and most of the set-up.

That looks really good! and the correct effect for the GT40
So the 48 will be a bit big - oh well with the USD rate at the moment they looked like a bargain!
cheers

If you want carbs, why not have a stab at those:

You can get the manifold seperate.

Those split manifolda are still available i believe, the proper cast manifolds were made by janspeed and it was believed there was only 6 cast, the last count accounted for 5 of them, so there's another out there somewhere, most people found them very difficult to set up and to big for the rover at 48, 45's would have just about be acceptable, my mate has a set and although he enjoys the performance of them, the 12 to the gallon on a run was unaccepltable !! john
So thats where it went !
