Rover V8 Crankshaft and Conrod Identification

Post by Coops »

Hi Guys,
not sure if some one can give me the casting numbers (HRCxxxx-ERCxxxx etc) from rover for there cranks and conrods before 11 in the morning (saturday 06/01/07),
Off to look at this rovertec engine, and things are not working out from what was paid to be built to what Neil has sat in his workshop,
so we are going to strip the engine down and have a measure up.
and wanted some numbers etc to check against parts as we remove them as a reference.

The only casting number I can find is my reground 3.5 crank (currently fitted in an SD1 block but unsure of origin).

Number is HRC 1118 OR 111B

Good Luck

Hi,
The standard 3.5 & 3.9 cranks are the same, the 4.0 and 4.6 cranks will be marked on the first web with the capacity.
The bigger capacity rods will be easily spotted as they have a rectangular block on the top cap and are held together by bolts rather than nuts.
HRC 2383 is for a 4.0
HRC 1037 is the 3.5/3.9 rod
602393 is the earlier version of the 3.5
HRC 1118 is the 3.5/3.9 crank
regards
Jim

You'll already know that you can make almost any capacity using earlier combinations of parts.
