4.0L heads for 3.5L block?

Post by Kassi »

Hi,

I found that this would be incompatible.
But in my opinion I can use the new heads for the 3.5L block when using the composite gasket, optaining similar compression ratio than with the old design. As it was said many times about the third row of screws there is no need for.

Please has anybody done this conversion or has any idea why this should not be possible?

Thank you
Regards
Christof

I have the 4.0/4.6L heads fitted to my 3.5 engine using composite head gaskets, no problems at all.

Also you are correct, no need to worry about the 3rd row of bolts (my heads dont even have the holes for them)
