Re: Flywheel issue
There are a few similar clutch slave cylinders from various old Landrover/Rovers etc.. with different bores - which might just help give you enough throw - if that's your issue? that you have a firm clutch pedal but the clutch isn't 'disengaging'? Smaller slave bore will give you more movement - at ...

What ECU is controlling your idle stepper motor?
1000rpm is still too fast for normal warm idle.

Re: Problems with new Rover 4.6 Engine
Maybe unplugging and replunging in your injectors cured a doggy contact for those two injectors to explain the clean exhaust ports?
White plugs obviously suggest its too lean, which can also cause high temps.

Re: Problems with new Rover 4.6 Engine
I have the injectors out, nothing that I can see blocking them in any way They all have the same internal resistance of 14.8 ohm and applying 12v gives a nice audible click. I think I am going to put them all in my ultrasonic cleaner, take off rubber seals first Anyone think of an effective way to ...

Re: Problems with new Rover 4.6 Engine
I would suspect the low pressure on those two cylinders is as a consequence of those two cylinders not firing and the rings not bedding well?
Check the resistance of the injectors - at the ECU plug, which will also check the connector to injector contact.

Re: Problems with new Rover 4.6 Engine
I have had poor wiring connection with some of my injectors in the past - from my old original wiring loom. I traced it back to weak spring contacts in the a couple of injector connectors. I small tweak with a screw driver and hey presto singing on all 8 again. As you have separate exhaust headers i...

Re: 1990s Range Rover 4.6ltr V8 Timing failure
Hello everyone, I'm pretty sure it's not the oil pump. The problem and the cause is the gear on the distributor shaft. The gearing is poorly made and relatively rough. That wouldn't be a big deal. It would wear in after a short time. But! The gear is also much too hard and practically doesn't wear ...

Re: ROVER V8 NO HEAD GASKET!!??
Wow.
I would definitely be taking off both heads - if who ever built it 'forgot' the head gasket!! What else have they missed?
Exhaust gaskets are easy to get the wrong way round.

Especially if high pressure oil relief springs are used putting more force through the gears.Ian Anderson wrote: ↑Sat Jun 07, 2025 8:10 pm This was a known fail point…so much so that in high performance and higher revving engines they fitted an external oil feed to lubricate the gear.

Looking at your cam dizy drive gear again - the corner looks quite rounder off - vs the genuine gear which has quite sharp corners - though it is hard to tell from your images.

Re: 1990s Range Rover 4.6ltr V8 Timing failure
Needs a CAM shaft. :sob Can anyone recommend a garage familiar with this engine and can carry out this work at a reasonable rate? - Thanks. How do you know is needs a camshaft? Could it just be the bolt has undone/failed from over/under torque? Can't see from your photo. Also - it would be helpful ...

Re: 1990s Range Rover 4.6ltr V8 Timing failure
OK - Got an update on this, been talking to an 'expert' on the Range Rover V8s and he says he's never heard of a 4.6ltr timing chain jumping as it's more likely to snap rather than jump, but what he has heard of is the distributor shaft striping its teeth where it meets the cam shaft sprocket, and ...

Re: Strange temp gauge behaviour in TR7 V8
A lower temp thermostat - would open at a lower temp and help your engine run cooler - not warmer!
If you want to raise the operating temp - fit a higher temp thermostat.
Could there be air trapped?

Re: Rover V8 serp oil pump relief valve
I think I would just clean and re-use making sure they aren't tight.
If they were compatible I would expect RimmerBros to also list the V8 in suitable applications.
This might be interesting:
