ODBII CAR FAULT CODE SCANNERS

Post by r2d2hp »

Am think of buying a ODBII fault code reader and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations.

Seem to be a lot of choice from hand held units to software that can be installed on a laptop etc.

Have 2 cars with faults at the moment Honda Accord and MGTF so if anyone has any suggestions feel free to let me know.

Thanks

Thanks Tony, when you get the new one will you be selling the old one as could be interested.

Have a car that drops into limp home at 3000 revs and need to pick it up on Sat so would it be ok to pop over and pick it up before then.

I have an OBDLink by scantool.net which works on most cars. I also have a Ford USB Scan for the focus since that isnt OBDII.

its just the cable one, I did try and get a BT one but couldnt find any stock. If you have an android phone there is a great app that hooks up to the BT but any of the PDA phone software is limited in comparison to laptop software. They do show you the vitals though like temps revs and all that, kinda like a dash board. They will most likely show you fault codes as well but usually don't let you do anything with them. I do have a BT one for the bike that only works with BMW bikes. Phone works well with that but I still need the laptop at service time to reset service lights and faults if any. I can even use it to balance the throttle bodies its that good. Its still a gadget though lol all be it a useful one.
