Tig Welder Info - or WTF have I bought (one for Tony!)

Post by IainB »

Tony,
This is the latest addidtion to the stable, purchased on a whim, totally eyes closed and am now thinking....hmmm
Any chance you could let me know what the hell the 4 rotary switches are here? (im guessing the first is Amps, slope (what the hell is that for!), torch?? (havent a clue) and lastly tig torch or foot switch?)

Image

Then the data plate on the back, think Ive got it semi-sussed, but could do with verification  and whats with the 2 different torch's on the middle L/H side?

Also - can you ID this connector? used for both positive and negative leads?

It did come with a foot control though 8-)

"Only" thing I need to get is a gas pipe / bottle for the back and a torch/cable for the positive side....

Why not I do it with mine all the time and its single phase. If its DC output only you cant weld alloy but so long as it has an AC function it doesn't matter if its single or 3 phase.

The connector on the lead is a standard type. Same as the ones on my inverter. You can get them from Brittania welding supplies, or any good stockist of welding stuff I think. The Brittania shop I use is in Surrey.

Quite correct. Aluminium requires an AC machine, doesnt matter if its single phase or 3 phase.

So far my R-Tech 201 is working great. I havent had massive usage from it. But its worked, and the welds havent been too bad at all.

For a novice ( in some respects ) using it, Id say its very good.
