LT77 oil seal collar

Post by marcjagman »

Does any one know how to remove the oil seal collar on an LT77? I know there is a special puller needed, which I don't have, can anyone sugest a way to remove it or how to make something to remove it or even have the right tool I can borrow/rent?

if we are talking about the thingy that the thrust bearing slides on ...then just undo the bolts and a gentle tap will remove it .. and the rear seal is removable , just remove the output flange and there is loads of room to prise the seal out ... :)
remember it's only a bodge if it DOSN'T worK

Output end. You need a puller to remove it. It's attached to the output shaft behind the rear casing, you can't remove the centre casing or anything else until you have removed the collar first. I need to change the input shaft.

does this help , i have stipped mine a few times and don't remember using a puller to do it ... are we talking about the output flange ? once you remove the centre nut that just comes off then remove the speedo drive and the 2 small plates on the top with the 10mm bolts holding them , once they are out you can then remove the rear case and the collar and speedo drive come off with it ... the collar on the shaft is not a press fit just drops on and is a spacer ...

NO, it's called an oil seal collar and it's a press fit. The gearbox was originally from a range rover so it's got a different output shaft for the transfer box to attach to.
