Sizing up a transmission cooler?

Not really sure where to start on this one.

Revamping my astrovans cooling system, and would like to fit a seperate
transmission cooler (new rad has no provision for autobox)

Dont want to overcool/undercool it!

Van weight is about 2000kg
Gearboxis a 700r4 behind a 305 sbc
Mostly used for cruising around, occasional rag down the strip


any thoughts?

I would probbabbly fit the largest rad I could and use a stat to regulate the temps.

I think the maths behind sizing one is rather complicated. I've read somewhere about sizing an intercooler and after all the complicated maths it usually points towards one which would be too big to fit anyway!

Other than that you could check out a similar sized/weight/power vehicle like a Rangerover and see what they use?
