Hello All,
This is my first post on V8 forum! Just thought I'd say hello before I delve into your brains for answers.
Just started stripping my 3.5 RV8 and its been sitting for two years in a garage. The Clutch is all gummed up and worthless but I think the flywheel is okay. It looks unworn really and with a wirebrush is has come up nicely. Where the clutch plate had been pressed into it it had however corroded very slightly which after wirebrushing is now nice and shiny metal. This corrsion has left a slightly dappled and rasied finish to the parts where the clutch touch the flywheel surface. Feels slightly bumpy under the fingers. I can imagine that as soon as a new clutch is fitted these will wear away. With all this in mind would I be best to just fit a new clutch or have the flywheel skimmed? I don't know whats best as I am a newbie! Thanks for the help.

Hello and welcome good to have another enthusiast around here.
With your flywheel, I would stick a straight edge across it and if it looks pretty flat (the outside wears quicker than the middle) then I would just stick a new clutch on it, they have to be in a pretty obviously bad state not to work, and if as you describe is has little visible wear then I would just use it, make sure it is free of rust (as you have) and free of oil (obviously)
Best regards
mike
