getrag conversion??
Broke my gearbox on the rolling road the other week so I've been looking round at alternatives. My preferred choice (for ease and cost) is the jag Getrag box but for that I'll need to make an adapter plate to mate the Getrag to the Rover bellhouse. I'm hoping that it'll work out cheaper per item to have several made rather than one so is anyone on here interested in one? I'm only after people who are interested so I can give a figure to the engineering company to get a cost, i'll post price up here before I go ahead and order any.

I had a chat with the guy from http://www.britishamericanengines.co.uk/ about 6 months ago and he said he was planning on making a bell housing to mate the two together as he is a big fan of them. Chat to him about it.
Out of interest, how much can you get a reasonable getrag for???

I know I can get a bellhousing for over £400 but it seems silly to pay that money when I have a perfectly good Rover bellhousing which would only need an adapter plate. Thanks anyway

I had my rover bellhousing modified to take the Getrag box. see pics.

A local welding shop welded on an adapter made for me by a machine shop.
I took some measurements from the block to the front of the gearbox with the end of the gearbox input shaft in the spigot bearing. The machine shop milled the bellhousing to the right height before making the adapter plate.
The total cost was around £200.
Paul.
