It won't fit !!!!

Post by adambloch »

Hi all I'm new here, yes I know not the right place to say Hi :)

I have a problem with a LT77 bellhousing. I have a space frame car that came with a LT77 and rover V8 fitted. I started fitting a T5 and have gone back to the LT77. Unfortunatly I gave away to old Gearbox and had to buy another. With my new SD1 box in hand I came to fit it the other night to only find that the bell housing hits the space frame under the bell housing at the point where the clutch fork is. I thought that I would over come this by a little light trimming of the case :) Unfortunatly the fork inside the still hits the space frame.

My question is how many other bellhousings are there for the LT77 to Rover V8 and do any have the location of the clutch fork in a different place?

Many thanks

Adam

for 2wd there is only one bellhousing, maybe two if the sherpa is different but I don think it is. 4WD ones probably aren't an option as the are huge.

As far as I am aware, ONE bellhousing, unless you are going for a 4x4 bellhousing which, IIRC wont fit the 2wd gearbox without major mods,
If things are that tight it sounds as you might need to convert to a Hydraulic release bearing, that will sort out the clutch arm by removing it completly, dont know if anyone makes a kit fot the LT77,

Adam,

As Ian suggested one of these might solve your problem without having to do msjor surgery to the frame, not cheap though.

Real Steel may also stock them.

I have one of the bank type that need turning down to fit the LT77

The Only thing that is bugging me is that I had one of these boxes in the car before. I wasn't a 4x4 bell housing as I cracked it and had to get it welded when I fitted a Range Rover clutch and cover one day (was a little tight on the bolts as I did it up)

So there must be a bell housing out there that is a little different.
