GM TH 400 wanted.

Post by Boosted LS1 »

Has anybody got one in need of a rebuild? I'm after something that's not shagged which I can dummy fit into my car to see if it'll actually fit before I go spending money having it 'built'. Thanks.

Depending on your timescale, I may have one coming within the next few weeks, maybe a month. The only thing is that it came out of a Daimler Double-Six, so should be a GM400, if that would still be all right. It was supposedly all driving OK when it was removed, but that was some time back, so a rebuild would be the best way to deal with it.

That's a TH400, but the bellhousing pattern isn't Chevy - which i assume mike needs for the mock up.

FWIW I have a Jag V12 and TH400 box available if anyone wants to make an offer on it.

Harvey, thanks for the offer. Like Eliot says, I'm after a GM pattern bell housing on the autobox.

I was half hoping to find Eliot was tripping over the things.

No problem. If and when it arrives I doubt that I'll be too keen to sell it complete, people can tend to fit them even after you've told them it's only suitable for an overhaul, then blame the seller when it doesn't work properly. What you wanted it for would have been ideal. Should you find that you need any hard parts during any future rebuild, if I have the box I'd be happy to strip it and sell parts out of it.

Harvey, I got let down on the GM item by a prat on eurodragster who sent my cheque back even though he's promised the box to me. I've been loaned a GM casing by Andy Frost for a trial fit but I'm still after a box even a Jag item so that I can have a look at it's guts ;). If you're not to far away and have one for spares later on would you let me know. Thanks. Mike.

Frosty is a good bloke isn't he.
He loaned me a TH350 case to mock up the tunnel on my MGB which got stolen by the bodyshop.
The only thing I got back from that car was andy's box.

AFAIK the one that was mentioned should still be coming my way, and if and when it does I'll get back to you.

Harvey,

Did that box ever arrive and if it did do you want it? I'm still looking for something to play with. Thanks. Mike.

It's not arrived, yet, along with the two cars and trailer that were part of the deal that was done over 6 months ago now. You know how sometimes you start something with someone not knowing what they're like, only to find out months later what a messer they are? That's how I feel about this bloke now, with the benefit of hindsight I wouldn't have attempted to do any kind of deal with him..................... (And possibly how you're thinking of me as well  ) All I can say is that if it ever arrives, then I will be in touch with you straight away. I can really only apologise, but TBH it's all been out of my hands anyway.

No worries mate. Thanks for letting me know. I'm not in any rush and whatever I get will probably be fitted with a bolt on bell housing.
