ahhhh bugger it, ZF4 speed auto with 3.5 EFI

Post by landybob_v8 »

new engine in and running sweet as

took it for a good proper run out today

had a bit of kickdown action on the autobox (i know i know new engine)

thought hmmm its not as torquey as the old cam

until it kicks down and then it shifts, then all of a sudden i thought i had a little turbo! it went for it accelerating nicely and quickly there's the power band then i thinks all happy!

then after 2 secconds in the power band (its a kent H214 cam using EFI 3.5 by the way) the autobox changes gear

so now im left with awesome power that i cant use for a landy at least lol

whats my options now?

hopefully not back to manual or im going to fry clutches even more now
anyone know how to tweak the auto box so i can use the power, cutsom torque converter maybe? few quid i bet

is there anyway of adjusting the govenor to change gear at a higer rpm so it stays in the power band when its changed gears instead of going into top and then locking at a rpm under the power band?

these are my cam specs by the way

I've got a governer from a Volvo box in my 4HP22, and it changes at about 6K with wide open throttle.

Could be that the kickdown cable needs adjusting. it doesn't just do "kickdown", it actuates a cam that controls gearchange points against load, whereas the governor controls shift points against speed. The combination of the two gives the shift characteristics. Try adjusting the cable up a bit (about 1/8" at a time) and see what happens.
