tvr 4ltr again

Post by sax player »

please bear with me gents i only want to do this build once!!
I have stripped the heads off and discovered shims(about 25thou) under each rocker shaft pedestal. what is the purpose of these?
looking at the cam shaft timing the cam sprocket indentation does not line up with the wood ruf key in the crank. Am i missing somthing here? it appear to be at 30 degrees when the cam sprocket indentation is at 180degrees.
Your thought will be appreciated
Shaun.

the shims are to restore valve train geometery, the woodruff key is not an indication of position, if you look at the cam gear and bottom sprocket where will be 1 dot on each which must align,
