There are two tapped holes on my 2WD R380 gearbox whose purpose I am not sure of and can't find any info in my R380 overhaul manual. I attach a piccy of the 2 holes which are arrowed. Sorry the picture is a little blurred. One of the holes has a red plug in it.
Unless one of them is a breather hole, I want to blank them off with a bolt of the right size. Does anybody know the required thread sizes ?

What are these holes for in my R380 gearbox ?

They are not for the oil cooler - that is fitted to an adaptor on the other side of the gearbox. The adapter comes in two forms, one for oil cooler and one not for oil cooler - kind of obvious really .
I think the front one is for the reversing light switch and the rear one is an oil filler or breather connection.

Hi Alex,
Definately not oil cooler connections !!
The one nearer the front of the box is for a breather pipe (it's usually done with a banjo fitting ). The rear one is for a switch.
It's a bit like "call my bluff" this post , as you now have three sets of answers to pick the correct one from.
Regards
Jim
