is it a water pipe an if so where does it need to go?

Plenum heater.

You can miss it off compeltely and it'll make no difference at all.

If you do want to connecvt it then the back of the water pump is the place.

i presume the pipe just behind it is also the same, i guess if i take that pipe off to and block it at other end of that pipe? where does it that pipe go?

Yes they are flow and return.

Plug them at the water pump end

you can remove the piece from the plenum , but a couple of the bolts go right through so make sure you put them back in
remember it's only a bodge if it DOSN'T worK

is there any real need for this? im guessing its for maybe fuel economy reasons? surely a colder plenum is better for power?

from what i can see the the pipe which feeds it comes from just next the the thermostat so it would be supplied with water all the time even if thermostat is closed.

presuming it doesnt do anything good i will remove it completely an block the hole up.
