heater hose?? Serp cover/pump??

Post by ihatesissycars »

I've come up to a problem and i'm struggling for a solution.

I've changed to a 3.9 serp front cover etc and i don't know where to put my heater hoses!

The pump hase no small inlets or outlets other than for the bottom hose.

The manifold has one thats heater hose size, this on the engine side of the thermostat so i could use that one but i've no idea where to put the other. Maybe a t junction into the bottom hose? I'm stumped!

is it not a flow and return for the heater circuit?

It is a flow and return for the heater i need to plumb in but i have only one union available. The inlet manifolds is a hotwire one and doesn't have the pipe work under the manifold and teh front cover/pump has not extra unions on it either.

Some of the original installs has two metal pipes that run down the top drivers side of the engine between the plenum and the rocker cover. It also has a handy filling point in it too making it easier to get air out the system so might be worth trying to find one.

Yes i've seen the metal pipes but they only direct the water to somewhere, where is that?

One goes to the manifold before the stat but its the other one? On tvr's it dissapears down the drivers side of the block but i've not found a piccie of where precisely.

goes from manifold through one metal pipe to the heater, then from the heater through the other metal pipe to the pump.

I think i'm misunderstood, about the pipes that is. . .

I only have one union on the engine so i have a coolant feed for the heater but no where for the heater return on the engine. Thats the problem, no where for the heater return to go.

Nope. The oinly stub/union etc is the one on the manifold. There is another on the manifold but if i put the heater to and from the manifold the pump won't have any effect on water flow thru the heater so can't use that.

No idea about this but is it possible the serp front needs the gems inlet to sort the plumbing? Some pics might help too.

Hopefully Roysten will see this as that's what he is running. Its still poss for it to be a diff inlet mind you to the usual hotwire.

Solved!

One goes to the manifold as i suspected but the other goes to the bottom hose to a (in my case) tee piece or to the rad near the bottom hose!
