harmonic Balancer
Hi Is it ok to mount a trigger wheel to this, or would it move too much. or cause problems.
I'm only going to be running an alternator, and water pump no PAS.
So there will not be as much load as normal.

to be honest you would have a hell of a job attaching it to the outer ring anyway. It should bolt onto where you would bolt the pulleys onto. You can get an idea from here http://trigger-wheels.com/store/ in the fitting guide section.

It's a late serp P38 engine.
There are no bolt on pulleys just the one serp that's separated from the main part from a rubber bit.

Spoken to trigger wheels, and they don't do one, nor does anyone else Ive spoken too.
The plan was to just have a small ring with the teeth and bolt this to the outer ring. as this would then add less weight.
I think I have solved it now, Ive just cut a hole big enough to fit over the bit that joins front cover., and used the threads for the removal tool to fix it in place. and used counter sunk bolts.
Will post a wednesday.

these engines should be triggered of the flywheel standard but you probably aren't using a standard flywheel. Couple of choices, at the back there will be a heavy boss. You could get one made as a press fit onto that, early engines have an oil deflector plate there. Another choice is get one made up that is trapped under the pulley bolt, mounted to the front. Both of them you can index off the bolt hole that is there.
Ok got one cut and fitted.
Then trimmed on a lathe one fittled so it's all true, as was 1mm out from 1 side to the other.

I had the whole lot professionly balanced. and weight matched to 0.2g
Crank
Flywheel
Clutch Cover
Rods
Pistons
and the Harmonic balancer.
had to supply the shells and rings and timing gear. to get everything done perfect.
The weight was taken off the front and a few holes was made in the back.
He also said it may be best to add another 2 bolts as with only 2 It was viberating a little on high rev's
