considering putting a mini fuel tank in front of my car,
my bro put a mini tank in his landy and was good as the fuel gauge sender worked (still being rover), which is good.
however his is on carbs so having one outlet was not a problem.
on an EFI V8, is the pump usually in the tank? or is it in the engine bay? and also is there a return pipe? if there is did any of the newer spi mini's have a return?

Swirl pot is generally in the tank but you can get them outside and like you say before the pump. There is a thread on here debating the merits of the external type. Some say the fuel will get too hot and some say it will be fine. Course the benefit if it being in tank is it has the rest of the fuel to cool the return. You need one because EFI moves a large amount of fuel in a circuit at pressure so the slightest uncovering of fuel and you get a big air intake. This leads to the engine cutting out or at best you get a stutter until the air is purged. Easy enough to cut and weld the tank really (once fuel is completely removed) you could either put a sump on the bottom or a cup inside and aim the return at it.

One of these will do the trick and save a lot of hassle and expence. Yes you need a return line and the EFI pump is fitted in after the accumalator filter with an ordinary pump feeding that from the tank.
