Telling the DVLA of engine size change.

Hi,
In this day and age of 'Big Brother' watching everything you do

decided to inform the DVLA of change of engine size and number when i put a 4.6 in my TR7,should be easy right? NO got a letter tonight informoing they want written evidence of engine size and number such as who installed it or invoice of purchase ect ect. There is a foot note saying-

'Very few manufactures make engines of 1100cc / 1200cc / 1549cc If your evidence does not show an accurate engine size then it will be rejected'

They are going to hold onto my V5 till i provide the evidence

I assume that 'big brother' has incorrectly read my engine size and is under the impression i have installed a SMALLER ENGINE not a larger one.
Tried phoning this evening no joy

Anyone else had a similar problem

So much for doing the right thing

When I did my van (albeit 3 years ago now), I just got the V5, put 3528 in the engine size box, added LPG to the fuel box and put in the new engine number.

Got back the V5 in a couple of weeks just fine.

Sounds like things have changed......

Someone had the same problem on the NSRA, see link, it might be a case of being unlucky, or could it be the "new tax" they will announce in the budget tmrw? probably cost a few more bob to tax?

Thanks for the feedback, sounds like the guy on the NSRA,has had the same problem will give the DVLA a call tomorrow and ask the question and do my best to stay calm

I changed my Focus V5 from 1600 to 5000 last year, didn't declare an engine number as I was expecting to be asked for more info.
The V5 came back with 5000cc and the original engine number still showing.

Phoned DVLA this morning and apprently new policy

The guy i spoke to said only vey recently introduced, so bare in mind if you decide to do the honest thing

Wish i had done what Stevie say's and told them FECK ALL

If there is one thing you can be sure of.

If you are honest, and try and do everything by the book, you will get well and truly screwed at every opportunity, especially when it comes to government or motoring related issues.

There are no laws in place at present to allow it to happen.

The rules are changing, and it wont matter a damn if we go by the book, and declare everything, or tell them nothing.

The proposals bandied about a while back, will effectively make most of our cars illegal for the road no matter how hard we try otherwise.

So just enjoy it while we can.
