That's a stout 'box - will take a mega rover engine to break that thing.

My thoughts exactly. I wouldn't have thought many RV8s could kill a TH350 let alone a 400.

You Eliot on the other hand seem able to mangle almost everything that the GM hydromatic division developed :)

That box has to be from an old RV8 challenge or Pro Rover class drag car. You can't beat a bit of over-engineering to get the job done!

I think it is a bit big for a rover v8 ! It will zap too much power from you, The th350 would be ideal and zaps around 35hp and the th400 zaps 45ish hp. Depend on what back axel you use that could be a lot of power gone into the drive train before you move. My 9" axel uses around 35-40ish hp and my th350. I am robbed by around 75-80bhp just for it being strong, But i say thats the price you have to pay.

And the Glide only saps about 20bhp I think.

That sounds rather a lot for a diff. 1HP=750W so you are talking about 26Kw in the diff. It would get seriously batsrad hot if it really was.

I think these figures are when the axle is fully loaded (torque-wise that is, not weight wise). Of course it isn't loaded for long, so although the temp is increasing rapidly, it doesn't get that high......
