Carb help wanted

Post by myvatn »

Hello,

I want to adjust the ignition and the carbs (CD 175 2) on the V8 in my Land Rover 101.
Never done a job like this on the carbs before ,-(
I tested the flow of each carb and found two complete different results.

Is it possible to adjust the carb without this special tool as it is written in the handbook?
How to adjust the fuel mixture?

Thank you very much for help

Alex

PS: sorry for this silly questions but we've not that much V8 users here in Germany ;-)

you should be able to ballance the carbs so they flow the same with just a screw driver and a (I think 4BA) spanner to loosen and tighten the locknuts. To change the main jet mixture I think you do need the funny boxspanner device to change the jet height, I seem to remember that the Idle bypass jet is just a cross head screwdriver but I cannot sware to it.
