SU fuel feed

Post by ChrisJC »

I'm trying to sort out the SU's on my Landie. I usually run on LPG, so dodgy carbs isn't an issue, but I thought it's about time I sorted them out.

The problem is that petrol overflows from the carb overflows.

The carbs are P6, and the fuel pump is SD1 in-tank pump (from a carb car). There's no return line from the carbs back to the tank.

The question is - should there be a fuel return?, what's the easiest way to tell? measure fuel line pressure?

Ta for any info.

Chris.

If they are overflowing you either have a sticky float valve or there is too much pressure. IMHO!

:whs was right! There was some crud in the float valve. A chat with Mr. Airline soon cleared that.
