I hate ebay. . . . .
I hate ebay, I have the majority of my stuff on there and I'm panicing because I can't help but think I'm going to get peanuts for it all!
I know its naughty but if I've ever sold a high value item on there before I would end it at the last second rather than sell it for bog all but everyone has a habit of bidding at the last second so i can't do that now.
PANIC!
Anyways, I hate ebay, rant over.

As far as I know, you cant do anything with less than 12 hours to go (been in a situation where the bike I was selling turned out to have a twisted headstock and I didnt want people bidding on it when I hadnt described it as such. Even cancelling bids with a message that it was twisted didnt get the message through, so I had to sell it to a friend, then immediatley end the auction against him)ihatesissycars wrote:I know its naughty but if I've ever sold a high value item on there before I would end it at the last second rather than sell it for bog all but everyone has a habit of bidding at the last second so i can't do that now
How many watchers do you have, Ive also been caught out on this where I had a lot of watchers....but no bidders, in the end someone got a total bargain, but not a lot I could do.
Have you tried selling on Eurodragster, Rodandclassicmart and the NSRA site, before risking E-Bay?
I've never sold on Fleabay but I believe the charges go up if you put a 'reserve', however, lots of people seem to say 'No reserve'. like you can bid £1 or whatever, but then you see a start price up in the £hundreds. Never understood that bit myself.katanaman wrote:Put either a reserve or a start price on it that your happy with and it cant sell for less than that. You might have the potential to save a couple of quid not doing it this way but you also have the potential of loosing a shed load if it sells for buttons.
One guy I wrote to replied: "you have to start bidding somewhere, so I made a start price" and when I told him he had effectively put a reserve on it he got all $hitty.

Don't worry Gav. I'll keep an eye on your auctions. If it looks like you're going to get a pittance for an item I shall bravely step in at the last minute and make sure you get ever so slightly more than a pittance!ihatesissycars wrote:I hate ebay, I have the majority of my stuff on there and I'm panicing because I can't help but think I'm going to get peanuts for it all!

Yes do moan about it as ebay has become the main place to buy things like this. Often I've seen things for sale for quite reasonable prices but the tight fistedness in everyone says "bet I'll get it cheaper on ebay!" so of they go banging away at the auctions as as a result ebay is the only place you have a chance of selling things these days and you're back at my original point.
Ebays pricing and fee's encourages only 99p starts with no reserve, anything else incurs big listing fee's and either way you end up paying the sodding final value fee on many items which is a percentage of that final value.
Then you have paypal. . . . . . .
Rock and a hard place.
Hairbear, you naughty boy you

Don't worry thats not going to happen, I too can't stand bidding up so won't do any of it myself and have warned off other people I know from doing it.
Anyways I can accept how ebay works but it doesn't mean I have to like it hence the post.
If you don't like the post then there's plenty of others to read.

One more thing that really yanks my chain is when people put 'This item may be withdrawn at any time as it is for sale elsewhere'.r2d2hp wrote:As I said you know the rules so dont go blagging about it. You made your choice so will have to live with it.
Bidding up items is also against the rules so I will be watching as well - that is one thing that really F@cks me off.
Good god, it is an auction, and how would the seller like it if I added to my bid 'this offer may be withdrawn at any time as I may spend the money elsewhere'??
