Exhaust manifold

Post by RammosV8 »

Hi there,
I have an arqument with my cousing becasuse I believe he mess up his exhaust. He wanted to built a custom exhast with a 4-2-1 combination. Although I told him to make it as: 1-5 3-7
2-4 6-8
his tuner told him to make it as:
1-7 3-5
2-8 4-6
There will be any problems with the engine or there is no issue?

Thanks for your time!

There is no such thing as a good exhaust tune on a dual-plane V8 (e.g. Rover V8) unless you cross the pipes over the engine like a GT40.
You would need 1,4,6,7 on one header and 2,3,5,8 on the other.
Exactly like the inlet manifold on a twin SU inlet.

Anything else is going to be imbalanced, (hence the exhaust note), with good spots and bad spots.
