Whats this lot worth?

Post by ihatesissycars »

Whats all this lot worth.

3.9 engine.

Recon crank, recon rods (with arp bolts) new pistons (+020") refaced flywheel, full balance, rebore'd to suit the pistons.

3.9 serp interim front cover and pulley arrangement, new belt and new alternator with wieth a pas pump or idler to go in its place.

stage 2 v8 dev's heads, crower 50232 cam, jp duplex timing chain, new rockers and rocker shafts and push rods, arp head studs and main studs.

Thats the engine, the heads can be removed to sell seperately.

Inlet, taraka inlet manifold ported to suit big port heads and a 45mm trumpet base. 45mm ACT trumpet base with shortened and flared trumpets, ACT carbon fibre twin inlet plenum and a big ol' k+n airfilter in between which there sits an ally tube I had made which has a boss in to accept the megasquirt specific air temp sensor.

Also, a hot wire fuel rail with 30lb p/h bosch injectors.

x2 accel coil packs with 10mm blue super dooper leads.

v3 megasquirt mapped so far in the right ball park.

4.6 crank ground + ready to use.

4.6 rods checked, weight matched and ready to go.

4.0 crank, rods and pistons ready to use.

3.9 interim block, cross boltable and enough meat to bore out 20"

Perfect condition sherpa lt77 with sd1 remote (cleaned, greased and mounted with polybushes) and v8 housing.

AP 4 paddle clutch.

Engine mounts and prop to suit a capri.

Remote oil filter.

Capri sport manifolds.

Merlin heads (unused! ooo errr!)

Why?

Ls1's are awefully cheap these days!

No idea but that entire engine setup is tempting

I suspect I'd have to do something with the cooling system first though :P

I wouldn't sell that on its own, it'd have to be the complete serp srt up or with the engine.

Ok, but I thought it needed welding or did you replace it. Would have been interested in the old one as long as its still broken.

Guess I could stretch to £25 for an engine

Yo, yup its so very very tempting!

How's this for a price guide then,

3.9 engine (block, internals, heads) £900 (has very very low miles!)

ACT twin plenum set up £6 - 700

Inlet manifold, £80 - 90

interim block £200

4.6 bits £250

4.0 bits £anything

Serp set up £300

I also have a race damper for a serp set up £50

Injectors £200

Ignition set up, £150

Gearbox £150

Capri manifolds, prop and engine mounts £400

Ap clutch £70

Remote oil filter £90

Merlin heads with bolts + fittings £1000

What do you reckon, do those sound fair and realistic???

Please note people, this is not an advert just a brain storming sesh to figure out prices!!!!!!

These will only go up for sale If I grow some big enough balls, this is alot of trick stuff to get rid off!!!

Glad that i binned my rover 3.9 engine and went straight to chevy (albiet old iron lump) before spending any money trying to eek out extra power from a rover engine.

I bought my fully rebuilt chevy lump with box for £400 and flogged the 3.9 rover for £1000 !

Gav, I would be interested in the interim block and possbily the other bits to go with it. I have a good deal offered on top-hat liners, just need a block now!

Out of interest, the ACT stuff, how far 'over' the rocker cover does it go? I'm having probs at the moment with my turbo and the standard RV8 injection set up - the hose is totally in the way of the heat shield lol!

cheers

You're not getting out of V8's are you?

Lol! No I'll be replacing it with an ls1 although the porky one is the reason why! I've been so impressed with how nicely it runs that I want the same thing for my Capri. I've not got the skill to set up an engine as well as a factory does plus I like everyone will always want more power so the logical thing to do is get a ls engine of some sort, I get everything that way! Turn key hassle free fun!

Eliot, OT - but where did you find your engine? I can't be fussed to put any effort into uprating my Rover V8 but an SBF or SBC would fit the bill nicely in my motor, especially if coupled to an autobox. The shell and powertrain could just about stand that

I've seen a few drifting about on eBay and occassionally the NSRA forums but just wondered if there was anywhere else I should keep an eye out. Didn't BAE used to sell cutouts?
