ExtraEFI.co.uk Open Day for MegaSquirt ECUs 19th Oct 2013
ExtraEFI MegaSquirt open day 19th of October 2013
Gary at FenSpeed is going to host us for an open day at his garage in Peterborough:
Anyone is welcome to come and find out what an MS ECU can do, talk about fitting, etc, etc. Shaun (www.ms2tuning.com) will be there as well as myself. So if you have anything you want to know, any questions on your current install, thinking of fitting one, etc, then feel free to come down.
We will be there from around 9am till the crowds have disbursed!

Thats not something we could simply plug in and try as it would need a 36-1 wheel and a coil pack already installed to give it a go. We dont stock the fuel only ECUs as no one wants to go that way these days, in fact I havent sold a fuel only PnP for 2-3 years.
If you want me to make a fuel only ECU up out of an MS2 and a Plug n Play loom (to plug into the Lucas loom) to trial then I will do my best to get it ready for Saturday?
thanks,
Phil

A plug and play unit obviously uses the same loom and connector as the original. If you intend adding things like ignition control and wideband sensors etc, you'll have to modify the loom anyway - and the connector may not have enough ways, or be difficult to get extra terminals for, etc
I know it sounds like a good idea in principle, but in practice there are more downsides than benefits long term. If you really do want to be able to swap back to the Lucas unit, I'd still remove the loom plug and fit the MS one, then use the old plug and a second DB37 connector to make an adaptor loom. If wiring terrifies you, pay to have this done professionally - it will still be cheaper than a plug and play unit.

Yup. I've found that once MS is up and running, it is very reliable. It's the initial installation where the problems are likely to happen.Eliot wrote:I remember when i first fitted my MS, i used to have the carb in the back of the car and could swap over if required. Happy to say it was never needed.
