I've got a 4.6 used engine, new cam, cam bearings, followers, rockers, head gaskets etc possibly be stage 1 heads. Now the engines going into, what was a 3.5 land rover. Now reading up on bedding in a new cam etc means I need to start and rev at 2k rpm for 20 mins. This is where the problem lies, or at least I think it does (maybe I'm thinking too much here). The fuelling side is probably either going to be edelbrock carb, or megasquirt, not decided yet. Neither of these will have been run before, never, mind on the bigger 4.6. So what do people think will be best as far as being able to start up and run it for the above period, without over fuelling/not running right. Or is it not THAT critical to do the 2k rpm? Any opinions much appreciated. Cheers mike

Hi guys, I'm not sure if this question will be able to be answered, but well see

It should run fine out the box for the purpose of bedding in the cam. There isn't any load on the engine so the fueling would have to be miles off for it to cause problems. If for whatever reason it doesn't run well enough don't fiddle with the engine running. Shut it down and change whatever and try again, you shouldn't have to though.
