Ok the plates got sent of to checked and they are knackered ,so does anyone know where i can get some from, all advice welcome, aslong as its polite :D rich

As they are similar to Jag powerlock diff plates perhaps talk to a Jag axle firm.

Rich,

Just to be clear you said the diff unit came out of a TR7, the pictures you posted show a diff unit from a IRS car so not TR7 possibly Jag, P6 Rover, triumph TR5/6 or saloon. or TVR

Anyway most of the clutch type limited slips seem to be either Dana Spicer or GKN. both were fitted to jags and some TVR

You need to ID that diff unit so you know what your looking for, any markings on the outside of the diff casing?

Is this anything like your clutch pack?

Well I asked my chum on the British V8 BBS who has just rebuilt a Jag diff and he says it is a Jag powerlock diff so no problem with spares.

Problem is not sure your going to fit it in a SD1 casing which is I think is a Salisbury, although I believe there is a similarity in design so it may be possible.

Hi Kevin, those plates are nearly spot on, but the lobes on this diff seem rounded, (but that could meen there knackered) .The diff looks almost identical to the one out of my sd1 axle, so fingers crossed :? rich

just been checking it out, the diff is out of a TR7 5speed axle, i looked at Rimmers listings and they show that diff for tr7 and sd1 and part numbers are the same, but they dont do the plates :? rich

Rich,

Can't be TR7 as they have a solid axle and the diff you have is from a car with IRS.

Pretty sure now that it's a jaguar and indication is that it's from an E Type.

It's possible that someone may have put a Jag IRS into a TR7 and thats whats causing the confusion.

Talk to Jagaxles and e-mail them the pictures you posted on here and they should be able to confirm.

What ratio is the CW & P count the number of teeth on both and divide by the smaller number.

Rich, have you had your diff out and compered the 2 yet? Then you will be able to get the first question out of the way- whether it will fit or not- as Kevin has pointed out the casing and stubs are from an IRS set up so this needs to be the first thing to sort! If it is a no go-er I cant see it would be realistic to fit IRS to your SD1 so you may need ot search again...

Looks close but is the SD1 unit slightly wider, difficult to tell from the pictures.

Also will the bearing size, and bolt pattern match the SD1 crown wheel?

Hi Kevin, i did have the crown wheel on the new diff but i took it off for the pictures, so that fits, later i will fit it in my axle on a temp bases to make sure it is ok :) rich

Thats good, as far as the clutch pack my US contact thinks the posi is from a 64-67 E type so that may help.

Try giving Jag Axles a call they are not that far from you.

I'm interested as I have a SD1 axle in the MGB and if the Jag posi fits it might be a good upgrade depending on ther cost of the clutch packs.

drive shafts fit fine aswell, havent put it in the axle yet as im fed up getting wet, but i dont see any problems there :D
