Search and shop around, their retailers can offer discount.

that is the gearbox ident link,
there should be a raised lug on the gearbox at the base with a number stamped into it.

No that cant be repaired in car, the output shaft has sheared probably easier to replace the box, Im wondering if you have sufferd the famous 5th gear oil pump failure.
Are you sure the diff is knackered, its got to be worth a look inside by taking the cover off

Difficult when the pictures are not pin sharp but the fracture looks like a classic fatigue failure, nice matte surface except the centre which will be slightly rougher. Starter for the crack would be a manufacturing defect in the base of the groove behind the speedodrive gear location.

As Ian says check the diff, I'd be surprised if you did damage to the diff when the box failed.

It should be a Atlas Rear Axcel limited slip diff.

Can't see any clutch plates or dogs so I think you'll find thats an open diff. Also judging from the state of the planet gears, I would say its Knkd  :?

Thats just a standard open diff, nowt special there,
The question has to be asked, -------What the fec were you doing to cause so much damage, Rover diffs are a strong unit, and I have never seen a flange shear off like that, :D :D :D
