What age is the cortina, and what ignition system do you have ?
I had no issues using my MK2 Granada rev counter with the RV8.
Obviously it will offer a different reading, but that can be worked with to a degree by a few methods.
But in general, the coil negative/trigger should just work the rev counter without issue
For making it read correctly...
There may be an adjustable pot inside the rev counter itself that can be used to adjust it.
You may need to wire in an external pot to the actual swing meter coil which will give you adjustment
or you can buy a pulse adjuster type device and use that instead.

Re: Rev
The resistor will be internal though. Not external.Ianrhall wrote:It's a mk1 cortina. As far as I can make out the gauge will read double the true reading, just!!!need to add a resistor to correct the reading

But as said, there may already be an adjustable pot inside the clocks. I think it was my earlier clocks that had this, the later ones didnt.

Shouldnt need to change anything inside it.
Ive driven my Granada rev counter off the original RV8 ignition amp, crane Hi6, The RV8 dizzy via a Ford ignition amp, and then finally from my DTA ecu.
And now just fire my Hayabusa clocks off my ecu.
Went through several setups over the years from carb/dizzy days, to more recent years.

It will depend on the original design of the thing. They are not all the same.stevieturbo wrote:Shouldnt need to change anything inside it.
