LT77 gearbox remote assy fouling trans tunnel?

Post by 3xpendable »

Hi All,

Currently fabricating a crossmember for the LT77 box in my GT and today finally got it over the inspection pit. While lining it up to make a bracket, I've noticed that what I think is the spring return for the gear lever assembly is fouling the transmission tunnel. I've not read anything about this in any books but moving the box away from fouling requires considerable force so I don't want to do that, i'm thinking that the tunnel has to be dressed slightly?

See image below. The light scratch mark shows where it's fouling and yes, the box is jacked up to a higher point that it would normally sit in this image but still fouls the tunnel in its normal position.

I ended cutting my remote in half, took an inch out of it and then had it welded back together... made it fit perfect

Some gentle massaging with a buggering stick should fix that for you.
Cheers,

I did a rubber bumber roadster conversion and this didnt happen?

But then again, no two MGB's came off the line the same did they. If its just a few mm I'd use the 4lb adjuster stick as the boys have suggested !

Haha! Love the technical terms here :) I'll be using the buggering/adjusting stick then.
