Hi , is there a way of testing a HOTWIRE ECU .. without having it all installed on the vehicle ?

What you need is the equivalent of a Stim for MegaSquirt. That produces a variable tach signal, and simulates the sensor outputs. But the main difference is with MS you can look at what the actual processor is doing with a PC.

I have made up an adaptor to use a Stim with the flapper ECU, but all you can really check is each sensor etc is having an effect on the injector pulse width. So better than nothing, but not a full test.

BL did 'Fast Check' devices which did similar for the flapper and likely for the hotwire too. They tend to fetch silly money on Ebay on the rare occasion they turn up.

maybe someone with a working hotwire install could plug my ECU in to see if it works on their vehicle ??

the only real way to see i suppose ? :wink:
