Lets talk carbs
For the 3.9 Rover V8 I plan to fit in my engine bay whats best? I had intended to use a Holley 390 4 barrel but i've heard the Weber 500 is much better for mild and fast road use.

If it has to be carbs then either Phil's or Ian's carb porn is going to be best by far, the webber carbs are vastly more tunable than the 4 barrels and far better made, trouble is that is reflected in the price. For anything below a genuine 210 bhp on a 3.9 then SUs on a prepped and correctly matched standard manifold will give the best results for a given price (provided the SUs are in good condition). Otherwise a standard injection manifold and an aftermarket ECU will beat any 4 barrel hands down on performance fuel economy and price.
