This is the BMW 320 IRL evo built by team edlinger in cooperation with KOPPE Automotive.
The basis is a BMW E30 and every part of the car is optimized for Hillclimb Racing.

3.5l IRL V8
The heart of the racecar is a V8 which was used by GM in the Indy Racing Ligeau, which produces 570horsepowers @ 10300 1/min!

6 speed Formula One Transmission
To bring the power of the engine perfectly on the ground, there is a F1 transmission (ex-Prost) integrated.

The bodywork is fully made out of carbon fibre and every part is built to reach the minimum weight allowed by the regulations, 860kg, and to generate maximum downforce.

The car competes in Hillclimb races in Austria and is currently the fastest touring car at Hillclimb races!

Thanks ! :D

The engine was changed to run on gasoline instead of alcohol. that was a lot of work but because of the regulations in austrian hillclimb racing it had to be done.

After our last race last Sunday, we can look back happily once again.
Erich Edlinger in his BMW 320 IRL evo achieved incredible times and was fastest in every race run, as a result of that he took the overall win, the win in the “super race”, a single run with the 10 fastest cars of the race and he also set a new Trackrecord at St Peter / Kammersberg which is part of the Styrian Hill Climb Championship.

some impressions you might find watching the video:

That sounds very very good!
Are you using the full 10 000 rpm?

And is the engine mid mounted to go with the f1 transmission?

even more than 10000rpm. at the last race we had about 11700rpm in the sixth gear!

It is mounted over the front axis.

I’d also like to inform you about our latest racing event:
In St Urban, Austria, Erich Edlinger set an amazing pace once again, and dominated over all touring cars. He was over 8 seconds in front of the second placed touring car, a Porsche 911 GT2 RSR. With this times he was even in the position to fight with the 300kg lighter Formula 3000 cars for the overall victory. At the end an outstanding 3rd place in the overall classification was a great success for the team edlinger.
