Crank scrapers?

I happened apoun a supplier in the states that fabricates crank scrapers for the Buick 300/ Rover V8. They'd have you believe that these are very effective. Only about £40 is it worth it?

When used with a properly baffeled sump (or dry sump set up) on a high performance engine they are meant to be very usefull, especially if you have taken the trouble to have the thing ballanced and intend to rev it. Pointless in your standard 101 FC.

Adam, I will express an interest as well if you're serious? I'm running a fully balance motor with group A sump, and a scraper sounds like a good punt for £40. I'm assuming it bolts to the windage tray area?

I think it shares the same bolts as the sump rather than the windage tray bolts, which is good for me as the later engines are not drilled for windage trays.

Well having had a quick look, although the benefits seem minimal (say, reduction of only 8 degrees temp at 6000rpm), that small benefit could be the difference between engine death or race winner.

Keep me posted if you decide to order one, we can possibly split the shipping? maybe get some more made up to reduce costs? I'm sure something like that would go well on FleaBay

For fourty quid, I'll have a go at buying a tornadic windage device. I might as well while im pulling the 4.6 together!

Before you order you need to know if it's matched to your counterweights as rv8's and buicks etc have different diameter counterweights. If the plate is to small then it'll be useless. If to big, then you'll need your bastard file

You could make your own using a spare block and crank.

Cheers mate. Yep I knew that. I learnt this when checking the clearance in a horizontal baffle of an extra clearance sump I bought

This company produce them to spec, you tell them what engine you have and if they have produced one before they just one another off, if they haven't then they may produce one for it.

Anyway I am off to Stoneleigh now.
