i have just splashed out on a 3.5 high compression engine,it comes with a webber dfav carb mated to a moddified manifold,i was told this manifold was worth about £100, what i would like to know is the value of the manifold . i have a 390 holley carb would it be worth selling the webber/manifold and buying a manifold for the holley. is the holley any good for the rv8 engine?(street use).also(sorry for all the questions but am new to the rv8) the engine comes with cast exhaust manifolds these run very very close to the block and follow the block shape(was told they are p5 ones?) do these flow well or should i look at changing these as well.
the engine is going in to a capri by the way.
whats the going rate for the 5 speed sd1 gear box? as the engine came with two both complete with bellhousings remote selectors etc....

Need more info for a accurate answer. Do you have any markings on the Weber or the manifold? Or the gearbox for that matter?
If you have the 4-barrel Weber 500 cfm, you would be taking a step backward installing the Holly 390. The Holly certainly produces more power than the SUs or Stoimbergs used with this engine as stock. However, compared to the Weber, it is a messy unit to deal with, less smooth, a tad less power with odd hiccups in certain situations because of its design and size.
On the happy side, it uses the same manifold as the Weber. I have never seen anyone displeased with Holly to Weber switch. Any Holly/Weber manifold is worth £100 on the used market. I don't know why yours would be modified.
LT77s (the Rover 5-speeds you have) vary in price amongst the savvy depending on which of the 4 variations they are. A non newly refurbished unit, in working order should fetch about £100 on ebay, if only to save the core charge on a freshly rebuilt and warranted one.
