LT77 Short Remote Questions

Post by dogdog1 »

Hi All ,
I want to mount the short remote housing in the straight up position . I've widened the bottom holes in the housing to allow it to sit upright ... but that leaves it so the bottom of the gear lever doesn't catch properly in the Sherpa yoke bush . I've tried using the short part of an SD1 yoke , but that fouls the end of the box ... and if I turn it upside down it sits too high and restricts the gear leaver .
Another question : The gear lever just seems to slide up and down freely . Is that the way it should be ? I hope someone can help , I don't want to end up with a dodgy gear shift lying sideways . It's going into a mk1 Escort . Thanks , Gerry .

Not sure I understand what you're getting at here, but you say one option fouls the 'box...could the box casing be ground away to give clearance?. Just mentioning because I had to grind my 'box casing when I fitted a short remote.

I could give some pictures if I'm on the right track.
