Faith in mankind restored

Post by marcjagman »

I managed to get hold of a Scimitar SE6a axle at a very good price but my front end is Ford which can make it awkward getting matching wheels. Obviously something needed drilling for different PCD. I opted to have the front hubs re-drilled as the discs fit to the rear of the hub, being old Escort, not the front so there would be no need to hve new discs re-drilled when they need to be replaced. I looked through the yellow pages and found an engineering workship within a couple of miles of me, bonus. "Bring them down and let's 'ave a look" says the man, so of I went. Explained what I wanted and why, to which he replied "we generally only do trade, but as you've explained exactly what you want I'll do it" so then the BIG question, how much???? "Well" he says, "as you look after your missus all day, and it's a hobby not a business how does FREE sound?" FREE , couldn't believe my ears, "are you sure?" I said he nodded. What a result. Just goes to show that not everyone is ruled by money, this guy is truly a man amongst men to do a job for free for someone that he'll probably never see again. Brought a tear to my eye.
