core plugs and freezing

Post by stagcar »

Hi,

Just got to the good bit of any build when you pop some water in and fire up the engine.

But un known to me it looks like the engine has sat somwhere very cold with no or very little antifreez in it

One of the core plugs was lying on top of the front crosmember looks like its been blown out by ice.

My question is has this likley to have damaged the block? it also looks like the other ones have also been belled out a bit so it dont look good.

i relise they have done there job but not sure if theres an easy way of checking for block damage?

Many thanks
Derek

PS i will get this thing out the garage one day!

Really the only check is a pressure test so in reality your best bet is to put a new set of plugs in, fill it with a correct mix of antifreeze and water and run it and see if it leaks. inspect the area around the core plug holes for cracks, blocks often crack around the core plug holes if they do go.
Best regards
Mike
