Photography - e-petition.

Post by r2d2hp »

Sent to me by my manager.

This was sent to me by the son of a friend of mine. He is studying photography at university. I don't normally forward such e-mails (indeed I've not been asked to). However if, like me, you are becoming increasingly concerned by the level of regulation, loss of privacy and general erosion of personal liberties you might welcome the opportunity to register your objection. And keep on registering your objections. No problem if you disagree - but thanks for at least having a think about it.

email reads

Hi,

I don't usually send out emails of this nature but please take a second to read. This will not just effect me as a photographer...

There are a number of moves promoting the requirement of 'ID' cards to allow photographers to operate in a public place.
It is a fundamental right of a UK citizen to use a camera in a public place, indeed there is no right to privacy when in a public place.
These moves have developed from paranoia and only promote suspicion towards genuine people following their hobby or profession.

If you believe we should still have the right to take a photograph in a public place please sign the petition.

So are all foreign tourists going to have to register?
