Double Banking

Post by plank22 »

More haltech questions....!!

For my Haltech ex6 which is made for 4 cyl engines I need to double bank it for the 3.9 v8. This will be done with wasted spark but I need to pair the cylinders so as I will have a spark on one cylinder thats on fire stroke and also sparking on the second cylinder which is on exhaust stroke, right? The fireing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 so would it be 1+8 4+3 6+5 7+2? Also how about the coil packs? The loom only has one set of wires for one coil pack.

Cheers.

Thats the reason I asked.....

Youn can drive as many coils as you like. Not just one coil pack.

4 wires could drive 8 single coils, 4 doubles, 2 quadruples etc etc

Or just use a single coil driver and retain the dizzy for sparking each cylinder.

You'll also need a suitable ignition amplifier for whatever route you take.

One of the reasons to go for the haltech is to get rid of the dizzy because of water. Is the ignition amp not a part of the ECU? I know that on a emerald system that its a part of the ECU and you wire straight into the coil pack. Thanks.

Not on a Haltech. You need an external amp. Some ecu's do, some dont.
