rebuilding a chrysler a727

Post by kingcrunch »

Hi everybody,

I'm the new guy around the block, my name's Alex, 24, born "kraut" from West Germany.

The reason i joined this board is the search for information on rebuilding a chrysler tf a727 automatic transmission.
It's mounted in my 1976 Dodge M880 pickup and not doing well, when it's hot. I already aquired a deluxe rebuild kit from Transtar and a shift improving kit from B&M.

I do have a clean place to work on the transmission, suitable cleaning solvents and compressed air to blow through all the passages.

All i lack is a detailed overhaul or service manual, as this is the first transmission i'm going through.
I've read about ATSG but their manuals are with costs.

Is there a free thorough manual that one could download ?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Regards,
Alex

I'm not the signature, i'm just cleanin' up.

Look on ebay for "Petersens Dodge Pick Up Repair" it's a manual similar to Haynes, but unlike the Haynes one which tells you nothing, the Petersens book has a fairly comprehensive stripdown of that box. You may also be able to find something through Land Rover sources as that box was put into the first Range Rover autos, but the Petersens is the best by far. Generally it's a pretty tough box.

Just buy this - an excellent reference for the torqueflite.
