manual flywheel bolt sizes

Post by mickjo »

I'm converting my Sd1 3.5 auto to manual, have tried to fit the manual flywheel but, found the 6 auto flywheel bolts I was hoping to reuse are far too short. I'm stumped by the type and length, I should be able to get them from a local bolt supplier, So does anyone know the type of bolt it is. ie Allen key, Stainless Steel, length, size pitch etc. Rimmers only give bolt order no.

I would very highly doubt a nut and bolt supplier will be able to supply anything suitable.

I think they are 7/6" UNF, or perhaps a finer thread, high tensile.

Your safest just buying the right bolts.

Mick
You are best off ordering the right type of bolt from Real Steel etc.
As Stevie says. Dont try to make do from the local nut and bolt place for these. The stuff they have probably wont be strong enough.

Real Steel do both bolt sets for the manual flywheel and the auto flex plate in ARP.

The stock bolts are about 80p each and the ARP set is about £9.00

Make sure you tell them which clutch you have fitted as I think the bolts could be different.
If you are using as stock clutch you will probably want part number CX2485 or BY100-2801

They probably would be strong enough....most will be rated at 12.9 anyway.

But when buying the right bits isnt hard....just do it.

Oddly my own LS1 flywheel bolts only have 8.8 stamped on them lol

If they are the 12 point bolts...you'll likely need a socket lathed down in order to tigthen them
