Toyota W56-C transmission

Post by rob b »

his is going to sound like im a real dumbass but here goes, just got my Toyota W56-C transmission the other day and comparing it to the broken G52 that i still have fitted at the moment. im wondering where the oil filler plug is? i think i've narrowed it down to 2 possibles but dont want to take something out that shouldn't be messed with and springs, ball bearings etc flying out!!

the 1st choice is a 17mm hex nut that is to the left of reverse light switch by approx 2" and down slightly, the other is a splined nut on the other side of transmission right from the restrict pin 2 1/2" and up slightly.

i have looked in my haynes manual and it just says to remove filler plug and to fill oil up to this but it dosen't say where it is.

any ideas?

Any actual box pictures ?

My R-154 was a 24mm hex on the left hand side....probably similar location to where you picture on teh W-series.
