Injection / non-injection heads...

Post by saml666 »

I was/am selling my stage 2.5 heads to get Merlin ones, but having just spoken to Real Steel, God knows when they'll be available!?!

So, having run a 4bbl carb for years, now that I want to put my engine (a 4.6) in a TVR I need to run Rover injection.

I understand I can't use my existing heads as they're not cast for injectors, could they be modified though?

Failing that, who does really good performance heads for injection engines?

Cheers,
Sam

The injector heads have a small relief cut into the port to clear the injector. Probably a couple of hours work to modify both heads

Sam,

Not difficult to do yourself with a rat tailed file or a drill with small rotary file,

Looked for a picture but haven't got one on file but if you look at the mating face of the EFI manifold you can see how they are cut out at the top of the port runner. If your not stripping the heads stuff the ports with rag befor doing any grinding then when you have finished one head turn it over and pull the rags out,you can always give the inlets a wash out with soapy hot water, but dry them afterwards and spray the valve stems with some WD40
