I recently ran up my RV8 in a test bed type situation to check oil pressure etc and made a stupid mistake. Basically, I connected all crankcase vents into the manifold vacuum and did'nt put a breather in the system. After a couple of minutes there was a squeaking noise and I immediately shut it down, realising my error.
Any ideas as to what may caused the squeak and whether it will have caused any damage (I'm thinking seals, valley gasket etc). I've run it up 2 or 3 times since and it all seems OK but I'd like your opinions on what to check.

Doh! - did I do any damage?

Hi,
I've heard this before when the engine is run without an inlet to the breathing system.
The screech is caused by the air being drawn in through the end seals of the inlet manifold gasket.
You should be ok , or at worst you may have an an oil leak from the back of the valley gasket if the rear seal has been breeched.
