hell all,
My GEMS conversion is now trying to out do me...and i am getting close to losing my grip.
Next problem on the list of many.
I am swapping from SD1 flywheel to GEMS flywheel but this is about 11mm thicker than the SD1 flywheel, and i am also keeping the 9.5 ins clutch.
Been doing some clearance checks today.
And so far using the SD1 flywheel & release bearing...my calcs show that the release bearing would push the clutch pressure plate fingers in by 11.4mm when the engine is bolted to the bellhousing.
Is this right or am i losing all grip......
And is the release bearing in permament contact with the pressure plate....as i was under the impression that there would be a gap.
As my new flywheel is 11mm thicker i am trying to work out if i need to remove material from the bearing carrier to compensate.
thanks for any help....

hiya all,
Been looking at this again today....i've modelled the setup in some cad software and looks like the GEMS setup (gems flywheel, with 9.5ins SD1 clutch & release) will be 16.50mm longer than my old 3.5 flywheel & clutch.
So i need to remove 16.5mm from either the release bearing carrier, or the slave push rod, as otherwise the engine wont bolt together.
I've took some fluid out of the clutch cylinder and pushed the piston back, but there's still not enough clearance to get the engine to bolt up.
Anyone know if you can get a shorter bearing carrier, than the SD1.
Beginning to wonder if this will ever go together, and must be a much easier route.
